(b) Cancellations and rescheduling: we understand that personal situations may arise or your pet´s health may change. Please reach out as soon as possible so we may cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Active Veterinary-Client-Patient-Relationship (VCPR) Definition
The College of Veterinarians of British Columbia (CVBC) bylaw states that an active VCPR is required for a clinic to provide prescription medications, prescription foods, and any medical recommendations for a pet. An active VCPR may be established with an annual health exam by one of our veterinarians.

Prescription Medication Refills Policy
Online Pharmacy Policy
For the ongoing health and safety of your pet, we require annual exams (therefore an active VCPR) to refill prescription food requests. As of March 1, 2023, we will no longer sell prescription diets to non-clients.
As per CVBC guidelines, veterinarians may prescribe and dispense prescriptions to their own patients (or the facility patients that have a group VCPR with the other vets in the practice). However, we are not authorized to act like a pharmacy for a patient without a VCPR.
Online pharmacies are not necessarily licensed to dispense veterinary medications in British Columbia, so we do not recommend the use of their services. These pharmacies do not follow the rules and regulations for quality control enforced by the CVBC, so if the medication does not work, or if your pet has an adverse reaction, there are little means of recourse. As always, you may request a written prescription for any medications

Doctor Preference
At Vancouver Veterinary Hospital, we strive to provide quality veterinary medicine and excellent service while maintaining compassion and empathy towards both our patients and clients. We appreciate your patience and kindness towards every team member. Offensive language, threats, or any acts of violence will not be tolerated. Anyone being verbally or physically abusive will be asked to leave the premises and will have their pet’s care transferred to another veterinary hospital of their choice.
Please note that in our lobby, dogs must be on a leash and cats must be always in a carrier for your pet´s safety.
At VVH we have several full-time and locum veterinarians to provide consistent and quality care for your pet. If you have a doctor preference, please mention this when you book your appointment and we will try our best to accommodate your request. If your pet is very ill or requires urgent care, our team may recommend the earliest doctor availability or referral to an emergency clinic.
